John Oprandi has resided in Miami since age six. He graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School and then attended Florida State University (“FSU”) on an academic scholarship. While at FSU he was a member of the men’s lacrosse team and the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, John moved to back to Miami to pursue a career as a financial advisor.

Mr. Oprandi later left finance to become a Social Studies teacher at his alma mater, Miami Palmetto Senior High School in nearby Pinecrest, Florida.  While at Palmetto he taught both Honors and Special Education students in history and was recognized as Social Studies Beginning Teacher of the Year by his colleagues.  John also sponsored and coached the boy’s lacrosse team to two straight playoff appearances, including a birth in the State Semi-Finals.

Though teaching was extremely rewarding,  John left the profession to attend Florida International University (“FIU”) College of Law to realize his ultimate goal of becoming a trial lawyer. In law school,  he was a member of the FIU Law Trial Team and Board of Advocates. Mr. Oprandi was recognized for several distinctions in law school including a Book Award for Future Excellence in Florida Constitutional Law.

Prior to joining the ACOSTA firm, John worked for a prominent criminal defense attorney in Miami. He also volunteered part-time with the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. During this time, he obtained a great deal of litigation experience, and a reputation as a strong litigator.
